One thing I hate to do is make predictions on any asset class. I hate saying "it could" or even worse "it will" when it comes to stocks, bonds, currencies, commods etc.

So this isn't any sort of prediction (yes I had a teaser in my subject line :P) nor am I saying, "this is it". This is more of random thinking based SOLELY price action and what I am seeing...

That said, I think the price action in Palladium is telling us that it wants to reach yearly highs in 2013. Now, today its price action was rather pathetic but I wont get into the details on that. What I can say is its slowly churning, trying very hard to reach these yearly highs.

What else besides the price action has my gears going upstairs in regards to palladium? Well, just as I was closing out and preparing for tomorrow, I couldn't help notice how many auto parts manufacturers and auto manufacturers are seeing their stock prices going higher as palladium works on grinding higher.

Can you see the connection? What does anything auto related stock wise have to do with palladium? Have I lost it? lol

well, clearly the conclusion is this- Remember, markets look and work based on the future,,, they discount and account for future profits in companies, EVEN if it isn't disclosed right at this moment. So, if the market is accounting for higher profits in auto parts, and auto manufacturing, that equals more cars, and guess what,,, well I think you all know here that cars need palladium as this is used in the cars emissions system. so this perhaps is part of the reason that we are seeing this metal run up.

Now I cant speak about the supply and disruptions of the metal, only to say that commod markets work on supply and demand.

So, folks, it will be interesting to see how this metal works out in 2013.

Thanks as I wanted to search palladium earlier and forgot what I wanted to do. Fine example of how under the radar palladium flys and now that it has past 700 its future does indeed looks bright.....

If I knew it was gonna hit 1k per oz. by years end I would indeed start stocking up....

The auto upturn could just be temporary while supplying replacements for all the vehicles destroyed by Sandy

Local guys post buy-sell prices for silver and gold, but no other metals. Not sure how much below spot you would get on a walk in.

I found a half dozen decent deals at ebay on 1 oz palladium bars. About 750 for pamp hornicopia style bars....

They make a real cool Lewis and Clark half oz and I saw it on ebay WAY TO HIGH at like 495 best offer....

But like mentioned above-stick to the two main versions most recognized in the Russian ballet and maple leaf.....

I think a lot of it goes back to "something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it". The average person has never heard of Palladium and that will make it much harder to sell, regardless of the current spot price.

Goldmart, Provident, APMEX and lots of other online dealers all sell palladium in bars, rounds and coins. They're not hard to find. I'm still kicking myself for not buying
some when it was at $584 last fall. When I buy some this year, it'll be from a solid dealer (and not ebay) so I know I'm not buying overpriced tungsten...

If you're hooked on classy vintage stuff, there are Engelhard 1oz bars and those beautiful, absolutely classic late 80's/early 90's Russian 1oz ballerina coins.

Needless to say, I want an ammo box full of each and after I win the next $200 million Powerball, that'll be high on the agenda...

IF and when palladium sets up to buy it for a trade, I will be using PALL.

Don't know if I want to buy it any other way since the markets so small... maybe maybe a Canadian coin.

I wouldn't mind buying a platinum proof in the future from the US mint tho!

Yes, he did. Fiction aside, all PMs have industrial uses, especially as conductors and, for palladium, catalytic converters.
