George V 1-cent coins that are badly corroded, harshly cleaned or damaged, I put in regular rolls that go to the bank. I figure they are not worth much, and I have illusions of maybe a kid or someone finding it in their change and becoming interested in coins...
I usually put one in every roll I send to the bank.

I haven't found one in decades in my change....However, with the demise of the penny, and the length of the current recession, you will find more people using their coin hoards in these times.

So it seems I'm doing good. I was the top vote so far. I just finished my first box of pennies and I got 7 KGV. 2 - 1952, and 5 - 1949. I found some nice 1980's & 1970's. no 2006 non P, non logo magnetic. I think I say a prayer every time I test one.

Got one box from my bank that can be only be called strange. Within, there were about 12 wrappers filled with cents with the Toronto Transit Commission printed on them. The rolls contained exactly 280 King George cents. Sadly none were of much value.

Those are KGVI, not KGV. King Goerge V will be found on coins from 1911 until 1936, and King George VI will be on coins from 1937 to 1952.

I found a 1934 KGV in poor condition last weekend in a roll. I thought I was extremely lucky.

I've only found 3 or 4 ever.
In fact, my luck is slightly better with pre-1937 wheats (in Canadian rolls!)

found 4 combined in 2 separate rolls in a box last week. Also found 4 US Indian head pennies in the same rolls, figured someone had decided to clean out everything.. let's just say I tore through the rest of that box quickly, but alas, nothing more..

I never found any. All the old coins I find are usually from circulation.

I have only found one George V penny dated 1920. The oldest one but, not the rarest.

Nice, I would love to find an Indian Head penny roll hunting! Closest I've come is a 1910 Lincoln.
