Do not find GeorgeV pennies. But boxes of pennies are changing with interesting finds. Recently found 2002 and 2003pennies that appeared untouched with pieces of mint plastic attached to the pennies. I am new to roll hunting and not an experienced collector. Can someone explain what I found?

Picked up $15.00 yesterday, and found 16 King George cents in them, last week had a box and, only found 2.

I've been through 10 boxes without finding one.

And then, the day after reading this thread, I found my 1st - a 1936 (dot-free of course).

Went through about 5 boxes of pennies, not a single KGV, lots of KVGI though. Few wheats, and on my last box, a 2006 no p/logo magnetic!

I found my first KGV at work yesterday. Wow, it really made my day. 1947, hope this is a decent year.

Hoop130: That is a King George, but it's a George VI (1937-1952). George V was on 1911-1936 coins. Still a nice find though :)

Cheers!

Nice find! I have a box and a half waiting to be searched and I'm making what might be my final run to the bank for pennies today. I'm really going to miss searching through pennies, which turned out to be my favourite denomination.

An aside, a bit OT: I'll probably turn my attention to other denominations now. For dimes and quarters, the silver alloy recovery program is 40 years old and people still find silver coins when searching. I think there's hope that the denominations that undergo nickel alloy recovery will still be worth searching through. Still haven't found a KGV nickel in CRH!

Don't do much box hunting but I did find two KGV's in early December in pocket change. I keep going back to the store in hopes of finding more. It's starting to get expensive buying all that junk food.

My only George V (a 1920) from the wild is from the cash drawer. I have found many old wheats (1913 being the oldest), a 1943 steel penny, dimes, every year (except expensive varieties) back to 1938, two clipped pennies, and countless other minor errors but never a George V in a roll.

Today is one of the last days to get boxes from the banks. With all the people I've seen carrying in Pickle Jars, Shoe Boxes, and other Hoardes, there has got to be some good forgotten stuff in there. If I was thinking and had spare time, I should have been picking up 1000s of dollars worth in the past few months. Oh well, just been out of the game for too long. Good luck everyone!!

I have searched countless boxes since last June. I would say at least 20 boxes to be concervative. Found none. Only have five boxes left. I haven't found any Indian Heads either. Did find a steel penny...but technically it was with a dime roll.

I've been a buyer of coin collections here in the states for many years and have acquired a rather large collection of Canadian coins. I've never really done much with them other than place in my box of Canadian coins, and looked for samples I didn't have as I added to my us coin collection and sold off the coins I wasn't interested in. Can anyone give me an idea of what these old small cents are worth in bulk ( by the roll). KGV and KGVI? Thanks.

The problem selling rolls of cents is the shipping cost. This is a big problem for you in particular as your obvious buyers are in Canada. A roll of shipped George VI cents might sell for, I would say, $6 to $10 on a good day. A roll of shipped George V cents with no scarce dates might go for say 2x that.

Pulled a 1921 yesterday, I bought a lot of boxes in prep for the "penny embargo".. After 6 boxes, I've only found 5 KGV's, none of 1922-25, definitely no 36 dot
