Is there some kind of special camera you guys hook up to your computer. Or maybe a stand or something with lighting where you can get consistent pic results?

Thanks I'll browse around. You would think someone would make some small lighted contraption that takes consistent close pics.

Wow, this thread is all over the place. hahahaha. I'll move this over to the grading forum since that is what would be needed the most to determine value and TPG submission. As for your photography, you're not far off. Post one of these photos, and as mentioned above what you are using for equipment over in the photography section and many folks will chime in to help you.

Well, I thought this would get some grading help, which in turn would help make your decision. Having said that, I will give you my honest opinion in the meantime with the preface that I am not a grading expert and my only resource right now is a RedBook and greysheet since everything else is packed for the show. You have a few high dollar coins in the bunch, but I don't think any of them are in a condition that would warrant the fees you would pay with Heritage. You may be better off with ebay as a venue. You may also see higher prices if these were in slabs just for authentication purposes since some are seem to be conditional rarities. I will break them down with my opinion, which should be noted that it is my opinion only, 1884o appears to be a mint state coin. However, it's not a rare coin and would need to grade ludicrous high to even be worth slabbing. 1890cc is probably between VF and EF. I'm thinking around $100 coin and again probably not worth slabbing. 1897o this is where things start to get interesting. from VG up to AU, it's pretty much the same as every other common Morgan. But from MS60 on up this coin is very high dollar. greysheet in MS60 is $650. There is something going on with the obverse. Looks like something spilled on it and sat there and dried up. Could be a candidate for an acetone bath but I can't recommend that since it's very dangerous for you and potentially the coin. However, there are conservation services that may be able to "fix" the coin. This is of course if other folks think it is in fact mint state to start with. 1895o looks to be another rarity in all grades. Looks like maybe a VF coin with possible damage. Max it's a $400 if problem free. 1903s is another nice coin in MS for value, but unfortunately yours is far from that. My guess is F. Put's it down under $100 for a problem free coin. Not sure what's going on with the reverse either. 1899 is a low mintage coin, but surprisingly doesn't yield huge dollars at low mint states. It does have pretty good value though for all grades in general which is puzzling to me. Only thing I can think of is that there are a lot of published MS coins for this year even though mintage numbers are low. Keep in mind that I did not research any potential VAM's for these either. Again, you will need to wait for the experts to chime in to confirm/bash my opinions above. I would say that some are probably worth slabbing if you're planning to sell them. Hope that helps.

Thank you tights. I appreciate the input. I always learn allot here. I mistakenly took a picture of the wrong 1903s in my collection. Actually I just handed a handfull of coins to my wife and she took the pictures. She's better at it.

It looks like the 1899 would be in at MS-64

Tights24 is correct with the ebay venue I think, your 1884o is ms63 maybe 64 on good day, 1890cc is VF20 1897o XF 40 1895O VG8 1903s AG3 1899P MS63 very nice coin except the thick black line on the cheek is distracting and I think keeps it out of ms64

completely with Tights24 on all accounts.. I am by far an expert either, for the 1899, the reverse is stunning but unfortunately theres quite a few distracting bag marks on the face, I'd have to say that it would get a MS-62, possibly a 63.. But I don't know.. You could always wait until you get enough posts and post them for sale individually on here, I'm sure someone would scoop them up, I might be interested in a few... What are you hoping to get for each? For photos... It's really hard to photo coins... I know some people have USB microscope cameras hooked up to there computers... I'm going to get one as soon as I can stop buying coins for a week ... But in the mean time my Olympus and my wife's Sony point and shoots work okay in macro and super macro if I experiment with the light a bit but if I want really decent photos I go to my mothers and hijack her Nikon something or other. Lol... Sorry I don't know what it is offhand but it works better at least.. If I talk to her tonight I'll ask what it is and post again but I'm sure someone might give you other options by then. What are you using for a camera now? Does it have macro/super macro? And I also find it easier to crop the photos on my computer or phone before using the image optimizer on this site (which works great) it just loads quicker and easier for me if I do... Good luck and great looking Morgan's! Can you post a pic of the right 1903s? Lol, if you can easily enough...
