I haven't heard of that error either from any of the publications. Yes please post a photo so we can all see and try to figure out what happened.

I don't have a digital camera so I will have to ask one of the kids to help me out--when I see them--it came out of a new roll from the bank--the rim has the golden finish but the front and back does not

It looks the same as a Sac does after a Lot of handling. However you said the edge was shiny. That's very interesting. I'd save it just because it's unique. Hopefully someone here will come along that knows more then I.
Nice Find!

Greg, it seems like either your camera does not have a macro setting, or your not using it. What I would suggest would be to move away from the coin a bit more so that the focus is actually doing something. The imaging software will allow you to zoom in on a clear picture and not lose much detail. This will at least allow us to see the dark shine of the coin in question and the details.
If the camera has a timer, it is also good to use. Even without a tripod, using a timer can eliminate the small shaking of pressing the "button".
Regardless if you choose to take more pictures, the coin is very interesting. Thanks for posting.

Can't really tell what it is from, but yes, macro pictures will be nice. It just looks like it was in an oven for some time.
