As some of the more smart rear folks here pointed out in my completed Kennedy book thread, without the accented hair 64, or the 98 matte proof or the etc etc it isn't complete. Well, I fully agree when it comes to the 98 matte proof. And pretty much with the accented hair LOL. But for now, the 98 is what has been on my radar. So, as I have said before, I often watch Coin Vault and AVC along with the other coin shows. These guys do know a lot about coins and spit out a lot of info. And occasionally they have good deals. Welllllll, Don (wonder why I like him so much? ) on AVC mentioned he was gonna have the 98 set in OGP. Of course my ears perked up. Well, when it rolled around I paid attention. I figured he was gonna have some ridiculous price like 449.99 or the like. Imagine my surprise when the price shown was in the range I have run across them in shops. 299.99 For that matter, that is LESS than 2 sets I have looked at in shops where the owners would not come below 350.00 So, half jokingly, I said MOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM, since you didn't get me a Christmas present... And guess what? She was happy to get it for me! I mean it helps that she was a collector with my dad years ago, so she has an appreciation for coins. Now, I know there will be a number of folks that sit there at their computers and think "he is an idiot, buying from one of those shows". And to those folks, I say whatever. When 3/4 the dealers I asked about it looked at me like I sprouted a second head (honestly, flipping coin shop owners had NO CLUE what I was talking about) and the other 1/4 had not seen them in years, your choices get narrowed down really quickly. The best deal I could find from those few dealers was 250.00 and I was ecstatic! When I looked at the coins there were carbon spots on the reverse of the Kennedy under the beak.Not much of a deal at that point. So, lets hope this set is good and I finally actually have what I consider THE Kennedy key.

Booyeah! Congrats! Nice mom you have there. :)
And you can find a deal in the most unlikely of places if you look hard and long enough - and yes, please post pics when you get it!

Congratulations smoke. Awesome coin... I know what you mean about local shops looking at you like you have lobsters crawling out of your ears.
Nothing wrong with askin mom. I asked my mom last night to buy me the 2013 silver proof quarters!
Will you leave it in the ogp or make room in the dansco?

Nice job landing that coin, you should of told your mom "half hunter" from the forum is also missing the same 2 coins as me I dont know what avn is though. I have coin vault, the coin extravaganza Barry Chappell show, and the AAN Auction 324 on directv. IV seen Rick demaska on the coin extravaganza have good deals before. My favorite one is the aan auction.. " 4 more out the door, thank you" I did see them sell a morgan for 20$ once. More entertainent for sure.

Oh believe me, I will post pics as soon get it. AVC has Don Davis on there. It is in the same channel range as Coin Vault on Direct TV, 222 I believe. He is on Wed night. My wife HATES Barry. When he starts with the Its not 1299 or 1289 or 1269 or....and finally gets to the price of 49.99 It IS kind of annoying. The auction guys are amusing. I have seen some stuff go stupid cheap, and stuff go WAAAYYYY to high. Pretty much like any auction I have been to. LOL But anyway, thanks guys. I am going to be anxious for the next 7-14 days now. LOL

@ upstate The 1998 set has two coins, the matte proof Kennedy half and an uncirculated Robert Kennedy commemorative dollar.

Yeah. Technically speaking the Kennedy half in it is a commemorative. Thats part of why there is no slot for it in the Dansco album. Even though it is the exact same design as a regular Kennedy. Difference being it is silver and matte proof.

@VetStudent
I was wondering when Daniel Carr was going to make his next round. I was looking at the website just the other day and nothing had changed. I loved the 64 Franklins he made, so was excited when I saw your post. My JFK set will now be a little more complete - sort of - only got the silver ones though!
