I Just opened a bag of 2011 Mob of Roos and inside were 9 with no Cud on the large kangaroo's head 2 with a Cud on the large kangaroo's head 9 with remnants of a Cud on the large kangaroo's head Has any one found any 2011 $1 coins with this error? or can explain what has happened.

I have a 2010 with the Cud a little lower on the big roo, closer to the shoulder. Yours is in a position I've not seen before.

nancyc do you think the Cud got stuck in the die and stamped the coin with the Cud to create the Cud impression. If you would like one you can have it as I have 2 with Cud and 9 with Cud impression

I think it might go something like this, but I'm not 100% sure it went this way. Originally a small piece of the die broke away, and the space left by it filled with metal when the coins were minted, and the Cud was the result. Then later on, one of the Cuds broke away from the coin and stuck to the die and that's what left the impression. I would love to have one thanks very much, but you'll need to turn on your option to allow members to send you a message though. I would also like one of the other 9 too please if I'm not being too greedy. I can send you a Rabbit from any one of these years as well, 1984, 1994 1998: Have you ever seen a 2009 Poo Roo? I can send you one if you haven't. Look above the D! $1 2009 Rev #5 Poo Roo

hi nancy I have allowed members to send me messages. So you would like a standard 2011, one with Cud and one with Cud impression? If so that is fine. Can I please have a 1998 Rabbit ear. Also no I havnt seen a a poo roo before I just checked by 2009s and I have none.

Nancyc, That just proves that the big roo is male while the other four are his ladies. It's still attached after all. Here is the thing I wondering? If the Cuds are made by a small piece of missing die, collecting metal for minted coins, then depositing that on a subsequent coin. Should not there be different sized Cuds in the same location? Or are the Cuds just the metal that has flowed into the "broken" die for every coin. i.e. every coin after the break has the same size Cud.

Thanks flippy, coins will be mailed this evening. Quote:Or are the Cuds just the metal that has flowed into the "broken" die for every coin. Peter, Basically yes, but the way I understand it is that after a small bit of the die breaks off, Cuds start to appear on the coins, sometimes further pieces break off the die and when that happens, the Cuds do get larger. This is a link to an older post of mine where I show the progression of the deterioration of the die, about halfway down the page, starting with the 1999 10c Rev 'fat' Cud, and go on to a 2008 10c Rev Cud. https://goccf.com/t/110105
