Took a quick break from sorting buffaloes and went through a roll of 1939 Jeffersons. Score! Like almost all of our coins it's seen action. I think this is the first instance of true doubling I've come across in the hoard. It was the third from last coin in the roll and by then I'd resigned myself to coming up blank. Heart went thump thump thump when I saw it

These are just USB scope pics, I'll put it in the pile for the good camera and will post those better pics eventually. The reverse is not in as good shape as the obverse. The cheekbone has very little wear.

Even though it's seen plenty of action, it's still quite a nice & dramatic find. Good job man!

Great Find! Don't forget to look for a possible 1939 Henning. Worth quite a bit of $$$ if you find one.

Congrats on your find!

I lost track of how many I have looked at over the years, and have yet to find one.

1939 Henning... rings a bell, vaguely... I'd better read about that. Thanks for the heads-up!

Very nice find! Years back, I remember getting some nice '39s in change--and spending them. I wonder if any were this DDR?
Rest in Peace

A bit beat up ... but an authentic example indeed.

Nice coin.
