I found these today in my pocket change...

Ive never heard of the "Northern Mariana Islands" before, but love the coin design! Are these hard to find?

As for the 5cent,I believe the 1942 is silver, or am I a year off?...Any value if not silver?

a) Not rare, but rare in terms of a modern coin
b) It's not silver... It can be for that year. Look above the Building for a mintmark. If there, it is silver!

That's not a silver War Nickel, those have a big mintmark above the dome on Monticello. They did start minting those in 1942, but it was later in the year.

The Northern Mariana Islands coin you have is one of the 2009 United States Territory quarters, which are a bit difficult to find. Congratulations!

Both are tough finds in standard circulation these days (i.e., not through CRH). That's some pretty good luck you have there!

For comparison here are the mintage figures of the coins you found and some other similar coins:

'09D Mariana: 37.6M
'65: 1819.7M
'88P: 562.0M

'42 Nickel: 49.8M
'78 Nickel: 313.1M
'00D Nickel: 1,509.5M

So as you can see, Windchild is correct and actually both are relatively rare for modern circulation coins.

In my opinon, the nickel is silver. I see a mintmark, possibly an "S" above Monticello. nice find.

Nice finds, especially in Canada. I think I may see a MM on the five cent coin, that or PMD?

After looking at BOTH coins again,

I noticed the 1942 has numerous lines behind the lettering, or so it looks that way anyways?

The quarter seems to be doubled everywhere too?

It looks identicle to this one below right down to the stand...

It was $19.99 for the USB SCOPE & $20 for the shipping directly from China & into my Canadian hands...all within 14 days.

The USB SCOPE has a light-scroll to adjust brightness of the lights & the res. is from 320x240 or 480x360 or 640x480 or 1280x960 upto 1600x1200! You can take a snapshot with the red button on the side, or using the software, use your mouse to avoid a shakey pic.

This usb scope even came with its own measuring software too!!

Well worth the $40 bucks...I wanted to spend the extra cash @ first on a better USB SCOPE, but cant complain in any way shape or form about the USB SCOPE I got...

I've gotten Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and District of Columbia in circulation, in CANADA! I am putting together a "found in change" set of the US quarters, and I just need the last territories, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
