Here's an early Indian for my type set. It's a little darker in person than the photo shows and all coloring is even both on obverse and reverse. There is slight wear on the highest diamond. Full liberty. Not much wear on the reverse. There is a ding on the eyebrow. I think this is XF, not sure how much the ding takes away, otherwise my guess would be XF45.

XF-45 usually requires full diamond detail and there should be at least some mint luster. I would guess XF-40 for your coin.

I'll leave the grading to my betters with this series but I do not see the ding having much of a bearing on this circulated coin.

That's what I get for using pcgs photograde! I thought VF35 had a lot more wear on the feathers and the Liberty than what my coin shows.

You can make out all the diamonds, but the highest point does have wear.

It's hard to grade from the feathers because detail there depends so much upon strike.
I suspect I would see more detail--such as the diamonds--if I had the coin in hand.

Funny when I looked at it I was debating between VF-35 and EF-40. I'll say 40.

I believe this to be at minimum an EF coin. Given the relative weaks strikes due to the Cu/Ni plancet, it has very good detail. I feel comfortable saying EF45, maybe AU50 depending on how it looks in hand.

At first I was at VF35 but this coin could easily slip into EF territory IMO.

I see a EF-45 possibly as high as AU-50.
