Wow, the year this coin was minted all the states started succeeding from the Union and the war will be underway as a result. Lincoln was in office. What an original looking piece of history.

I'm stuck between F12 and F15
i don't believe it hits VF, what say you CCF?

Thank you Tom!

I'm probably going to sell everyone of these here on CCF. I am narrowing my collection down to Seated dimes and will need to generate more funds to add to that series. I'll keep you all posted!

Too much detail in the chest, neck, and drapery folds for F-12. I say this is F-15.

My collecting wants and needs have evolved over the year's and I have regretted getting rid of some of my coins to focus on other series. Problem free and original coins are hard to come by. Personally, I wouldn't get rid of some of these and you may want to get back into this series some day.

Glorious original coin, graded accurately. Don't regret flipping this one, though - it's not difficult or expensive in higher grade if you want one later, and deserves to be in the collection of someone for whom it's a better fit like a grade-specific typeset or series.

I think F12 is right on, too much wear on the reverse to make F15.

dsfreeworld - Like SsuperDdave said don't feel bad about selling coins especially if you're buying more coins! What grade range are you going after in the Seated dime area? A facinating series IMO. I'm sure you know of Gerry Fortin's site:

It's a great resource I use all the time.

I am going to work an EF/AU on SLDs until I get to the real keys and then drop into the VF range for price consideration and quite frankly, I don't want her to kill me for spending any of the kids college funds on coins.

I'm all about Fortin's site and actually talk to Gerry quite often. He is a tremendous help and the keystone to my SLD education. I have purchased a good amount of dimes directly from him.

Also, If you go look at my 1838 O7 SLD post from last week, the "expert" who is excited that I may have found something he has theorized must exist but could not find to date in his career, that is Gerry. That 1838 might wind up on the site since it will be a new discovery; an early state die of O7 with the S13 heavy re-punched but no die cracks. He is going to investigate it more over the coming weeks and draw some conclusions.
