I picked this up at the recent F.U.N. Coin Show. These excellent pictures were taken by SsuperDdave at the show, but I had to reduce them a little to fit on the forum. Please give me a grade and a possible value on this coin. 1913 $10 Eagle Indian Head

That was an interesting moment. The overhead lighting at the show - which I couldn't help, of course - imparted a second color and highlight onto the coin, so we shot it with me running the camera and Fuzzy strategically holding a notebook over the assembly to block the overhead. This ain't always a one-man job.

I would say VF condition and the value is probably just the gold content, maybe $850-900. I love old gold I think the Indians are my favorite US coins.

Definite wear along the hair above Liberty's forehead and across and below the ear. The eagle's shoulder, neck, wing edge, and left leg also show obvious wear. Significant luster remains which suggests a solid EF-45 grade.
Most Indian tens with this much wear have lots of nicks, cleaning issues, or other problems. This one retains a lot of appeal despite the relatively low grade.

There is significant wear on your coin and perhaps it was a pocket piece for someone in the past 100 years.
Wear alone might pull it down to VF35 but the eye appeal, luster, and lack of contact marks put this one at XF40 for me.

SsuperDdave, I have tried taking pictures on my setup at home and they're decent, but the pictures that you took are the best.

All you have to do is the same thing I did at FUN, Fuzzy. Spend $1000+ of Bobby's money and drive it like you stole it.

I agree with EF-45. Nice coin!

I would say VF. There is obvious wear on the high points that is more than very minor. Even so, this factor is not all that distracting.
It seems to be developing a nice old gold tone, and this helps.
It's a desirable coin anyway.

According to the PCGS Price Guide, XF40-EF45 both show $990 I am pleased since I paid less.
