$5,250,000.00 Since there are only 5 known nickels 2 are in museums, and one is circulated leaving 2 more, I doubt one will come up for sale in a decade, the $10 million dollar just sold, making this coin even more news, so I'm halving this dollar sale and going all in.

I don't care. These are not coins but investment pieces for the very elite. They have nothing to do with the hobby.

numismo,,

I'm not disagreeing with your premise but that's like saying a rare car that sells for 50 million is not an automobile. This nickel is still a coin and always will be. Yes, only very wealthy people/groups can afford the coin but it doesn't change what it is. There are a huge number of coins that are out of my reach but it doesn't change the hobby for me or what they are. If I had an extra 10 or 20 million to burn I don't think this coin would be on my shopping list. These ultra rare coins have everything to do with the hobby. They are the coins us novice collectors dream of and hope to find in a search or cigar box full of trinkets. I want my 15 minutes of fame. Maybe it can come in the form of a Gloucester Shilling or 1794 Flowing Hair Dollar

A pipe dream for me.... I say $7.8M. Only one that most of us will ever see come to auction.

This is one of the very few reproductions that I would ever consider buying. I would enjoy passing one around to my kids and telling them that this is an $8M coin, if it had been real. Sharing the story of the coin would be really cool.
