Last week I had purchased some old coin books at an estate sale. You may remember the 1916 coin book I posted last week. I was thumbing through this book when I noticed a Confederate note in betwixt the pages. I got VERY excited and was just about to jump up with joy when I noticed the reverse was an advertisement for a local (no longer around) piano store. Check out their 3 digit telephone number. On the notes front there were the letters that you never want to see. FACSIMILE. Boo Hoo. Also inside the book was a WWII Bank of France Cinq Francs note. I wanted to share this Confederate knock off with you because it is an actual coupon. Kind of like money. And the book is cool too.

Very interesting. Too bad about the advertisement instead of the real McCoy. 566 must have been a popular number; it is the phone number and the last three digits on the Cing Francs.

CoinsKelly,

Always a stickler for details. Actually, good eye. That is an unusual coincidence. The French note is a cinQ not a cing. It can be confusing. I thought the same thing when I first saw the bill. Not having taken French, I didn't notice this. Spanish and French have similarities. Cinco or Cinq = 5.

I would hope that someone in Cajun Country would know how to count in French.

That is a cool advert though. I am not sure, but it might have some value of its own.

That's because both languages have a Latin base.
