Here is an ad I found on ebay. It is a 1929 Canada 1c in normal condition. I have tons of these. Do you have any idea why the current bid is $10.50?

Didn't you read the description? It's because it's "Hard to Find", a "Key Date", has "Low Mintage", and is a "Rare Coin".

Ohh, the seller is making it seem like a rarer coin than it actually is. I should try that some time...

Given the angle of the photograph, maybe some bidders think it is the 'High 9' variety (which it is not)...

The only bidders have very low feedback scores so probably quite inexperienced in determing 'real' value.

Typical overpriced ebay listing. Did it come from an unsearched roll?

Some hard-to-find and rare coins are only that because the owner can't remember where he put them. My local dealer has lots of those - or so he tells me.

I just listed >8< I.C.C.S. graded coins yesterday. Perhaps I should have also mentioned the words: "Hard to Find", a "Key Date", has "Low Mintage", and is a "Rare Coin".

Its amazing how much the price of the coin depends on the wording of the title and listing. WOW- I need to get better at wording my ebay listings.

There you go Glenn, you may get way more bids using some of those ebay key words.
