So at a local dealer I see they have this coin listed for 130$... Good investment? I have seen other online dealers asking for double this price. I must say it is one of the ugliest coins I have seen

With all of the packaging and in perfect condition? BUY! That coin is very hard to find under $200.
Mintage of 9994 and a must have for silver dollar collectors.
edit to add: Note that it's sterling silver so taxes apply so if that's $130 all in, it's an even better buy.

I've never seen this coin before.
But here is my 2cents. If many people agree it is ugly. Then why bother to buy? even it is at a tempting price.
Unless it is for resale purpose not for enjoy.
I only buy coins that I see it is nice to me to enjoy my collection.
Might be experience collectors have their different thoughts

I've charted the selling price on this particular silver dollar and it has been trending downward from its previous $300+ price levels for the past couple of years. Selling prices of ~$200 and below are out there. That said, a price of $130 for a problem-free coin is definitely a good price. I would purchase.

I believe that the mintage on this coin is less than 2000! Originally intended to be 10,000 or so, however due to it being ugly there was no demand for it so only 1000 and change were minted, hence the High price on the secondary market.

Quote: ...due to it being ugly there was no demand for it ... On the contrary, it was a sell-out at the RCM. At the time of its issue, it was (by far) the lowest mintage NCLT commemorative silver dollar the RCM had issued and was immediately recognized as such by collectors.

@ksimms3, if there is two available, I would be glad to take one at that price. Even something extra for your help.

I must apologize. You are correct! My eyes must be failing me as I thought I was seeing the silver moon mask!
