I just mailed out a couple packages using my normal method. I normally pack coins in a first-class "package/thick envelope" format, in which a 3 or 4-ounce package costs $1.64 and includes free tracking. I noticed my charges this time were $1.69 for 3 ounces and $1.86 for 4 ounces. Anybody else notice this?
I use heavy cardboard as packing which sometimes pushes my packages to the 4-ounce mark; until today that did not cost extra. Now I'm gonna want to cut down the packing material to make sure I make the 3-ounce cutoff, just to avoid a measly 17 cents extra weight cost.
Not cool!

The flat rate stuff took the biggest hit with the price increases, people always joke about it but investing in forever stamps may not be the worst idea ever lol

Yep, got hit by last week's rate increase when I mailed my amended tax return in yesterday. Darn inflation is hitting us!

Quote: people always joke about it but investing in forever stamps may not be the worst idea ever lol I say that about a lot of things lately, heck gas went from $3.04 to $3.32 in the past 4 days here. Stamps, and some other non-perishable goods (ammo) will probably never be cheaper. Even coin supplies, that's why I buy a minimum of a thousand 2x2 flips at a time, though I only go through about 4 or 5 each week with new additions. If you have the storage area - why not, save all the money you can so you have more to spend on coins!

You think a nickel is bad, wait until you send your first item to Canada. The basic first-class package rate just about doubled.

Ammo probably wont ever be coming down, itll be years if it does. Gas may get a little cheaper but 2 dollars a gallon is a pipe dream for the next decade at least if we ever see that again. Theres quite a few things I've found on Amazon where its cheaper to buy massive amounts than just get what I need. I needed a couple of bubble mailers not to long ago and could have went to the store and gotten 5 or 10 for 9 dollars or ordered a 100 on Amazon for the same price. Now I have 90 of them sitting in my garage

Amen. Sadly, I think my days of trading with Canadians is about over.

Oh sure, this is a U.S. Postal rate increase. These rate increases have been in the works for a while. Everyone gets hit the same, but not good for tight margins!
