I mentioned this in another thread, but decided it warrants its own discussion. I just got an e-mail from the US Mint for the White Mountain three-coin set. The S-mint quarter is still listed as being a proof. Quote:The 2013 United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set White Mountain National Forest features one uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Philadelphia, one uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Denver and one proof quarter from the United States Mint at San Francisco. This set - featuring coins held in a durable plastic card featuring an image of White Mountain National Forest - is available today! So, will there be two kinds of three-coin sets or does this make the "uncirculated vs. circulating" discussion mute?

Quote: will there be two kinds of three-coin sets That's what the rumor is: The existing type of three-coin Set (Unc-D, Unc-P, Clad Proof S), then a new three-coin Set with P-D-S in circulation finish.

Hmmmmm. I saw nothing on the mint list to suggest they were going to do two different sets. Perhaps I missed it...

I haven't seen anything on the US Mint website for a 3 ATB Quarter set with the "S" being the business strike. Right now only the 3 ATB Quarter set with the "S" proof is available on the subscription page. No "S" business strike in a 3 coin set yet.

Yeah I searched all over. Can't find anything remotely official saying there will be a set with all business coins. Seems like wishful thinking on jbucks part. ;)

on a related "S" topic, I have been wondering if the five S business strike quarters will be included in an uncirculated set.

The introduction of a three-coin set with a circulating S quarter has been mentioned a few times before. I was merely pointing out that the first three-coin set of this year still has a proof S quarter.

That's strange they would do a S Proof with the P & D.
You'd think they would do a a 3 coin set with the S business strike and maybe a 4 coin set with the P. D. S business & Proof. Wonder if they're keeping the S-Mint business strike exclusive.

The 2010 and 2011 three-coin sets had a proof S quarter, which makes sense because the circulating S quarters were not around yet.
The 2012 sets continued with proof S quarters. So far, it appears that there is no change for 2013.

Right now I'm just sitting back and waiting for the uncirculated sets to be released. Then if warranted will start picking up the three roll sets (only one of each). I for another am not interested in the current 3 coin sets, but am wishing for a set of the "S" circulated coins. I don't think that the mint will be releasing such a set. If they were going to be doing that they would have done so last year. I don't think that they are sleeping on this one. If they force us to buy a full roll of the "s" coins then they are ahead of the gams (more in circulation than if they released just a combined set of the coins. It's a numbers game for them. Has anybody seen when the uncirculated sets of the ATB's are going to be released.
