Hey everyone! Not really any specific question or thing I need help with, just felt the need to brag a little ... I got some mail today that finally that helped me jump from 98 countries to 105. Here were the new ones: And to show where all I've gotten around to: Might start a zoo now as well! Edited by Babar 02/18/2013 10:15 am

congratz! i found things really slowed down (from ebay bulk lots) after 125, then had to start selecting more individual targets and/or hitting up my dealer's bulk bin.

Very cool! My Africa map looks very similar to yours. Quite hard to get those!

Where did you make that cool map? I found the same thing Wade. After so many countries, bulk lots do not yeild a lot of new countries.

Thanks! I guess this will be the only major record of this kind...doubt I can even possibly get to 200, and not even sure about 150. I'm hunting around for a Central African CFA Franc (or one of its denominations), then I'll have Africa filled in a little more. I did not make the map, it is generated from the coins I've entered in a coin swapping/cataloguing website called numista. I took a screenshot, but the actual map displays the country names and number of coins when you move the mouse over a specific country, so it is even cooler. I wish I could copy the javascript so I could have it on my own site (or it allowed embedding).

Oh and nice additions to your collection! I really like the zoo idea. Animal coins are the BEST!

Is it free to be on the numista web site?

It is indeed. I started using it to catalogue my coins, but I've made a number of swaps on it too. They even have a feature where you can export your collection as an excel sheet.

Numista also has a fantastic search engine, while you have to spell everything exactly you can also search by diameter, weight, metal comp, denomination etc.

Good job congratulations.
Are you doing only countries that exist now or older countries that no longer exist and sit in the same places as today's countries now do - Like South Africa and USSR - which were much bigger at one time and are now several little countries? Or Montenegro that ain't there now at all? Or Movie countries like Zamunda that never were anywhere? Or even countries in exile like the Dali Lama's issues for Tibet when he lived in NYC?
I love them all. Especially Zamunda.
So whatever you do love what you do. Have fun. Never get discouraged. There is always a new arrangement to collect.
