Hi. Does anyone know what this is under the E in E Pluribus Unum? Thanks.

In addition, can you describe what you are seeing? Thanks!

(I hate to admit it, the first thing that popped in my mind is "One Cent").

Ha ha, Coinselly, I like the sense of humor! I guess I should have said to the left of the E. When I was looking at this one, it just caught my eye - looks like an S or 5? just below and to the left of the E, but where would it have come from? I tried, and right now I can't get a better picture, but I can try again when I get a better camera for close-ups. Thanks, anyway, Wendy.

I just zoomed in at 900% to verify what may be a dropped letter "s" from "pluribus" on the left side of "E" and concluded it's not a exact match.

Without higher resolution close-up photos I have no idea if it's a error or some type of PMD.

maybe you can post a obverse photo and see what the "s" looks like in "trust" and see if that "s" is a match...

I tried and I do not see anything. If you get a chance, try different lighting if close ups are out of the question. Sometimes natural light vs artificial light and different angles can bring out the thing that you are trying to show.

It might be a stain. If it is caused by the die, it would be raised. This looks flat and not raised or incuse which a dropped letter would be.

I did think about trying natural light, but had to work today, so going to try tomorrow. Will post obverse picture, too, if I can get any decent ones. Thanks for trying, though!Wendy
