Hi, all. Today I watched a YouTube video clip about cleaning coins. Would this be a good idea of cleaning mirror condition as long as this doesn't destroy the coin? as this is not giving any scratches to the coin?

It most definitely destroys the numismatic value of the coin.
At least he did say only to do it to generic coins but if you did do it you just have a coin worth face value after that.
You can however use acetone on coins which will clean some things up off of it but other than that theres not a whole lot thats acceptable in the cleaning world
OK - got to thinking about my original response to this ...
He starts with a piece worth fifty cents and ends up with a piece worth fifty cents - it just has more "ain't it perdy" factor now.
I have some impaired proof halves that were horrible looking, worth only 50 cents - no numismatic value - and used MS 70 on them to make them look more presentable. I lost no value and now have a nicer looking was-and-is numismatically worthless coin.
We have a CCF member who makes jewelry by cutting designs out of common date US coins. After re-thinking, I don't personally understand much of a difference here, and evidently a lot of the CCF family does not either since he has a thread where he has traded many of these cool looking items. What am I missing?
Well.. OK - since Mr. Ima Polisher is using 1971 D JFKs, he might be polishing a DDO and not know it.
I know what he did is never a good idea to do to valuable coins, but when I pause the video on the close ups on the "buffed" coins, I don't see any hairlines. How would you tell if this has been done to a coin you are looking to purchase? Looking at the finished product, I may have thought I was looking at a proof cameo or something if I didn't know what he had done.
Don't hate me.... I just tried this with a 1979 Kennedy half because I was curious. I figured I started with a coin worth 50 cents and ended with a coin worth 50 cents. It actually came out really cool and now I have a conversation piece.
I planned to use it as the Dealer chip in my poker set, but it's kinda small. Guess I'll have to try polishing an Ike instead (ducks to avoid tomatoes being thrown by community members)...
