Meh, just join the ANA for less than half that price to get the NGC submission privileges. You do not get any free grades but you also do not have to pay a yearly fee to NGC either.

I joined NGC a few years back when I needed two rare error notes certified by PMG (PCGS was my 1st choice but they did not certify Bank of England notes) and also sent in some die variety coins to NGC.

Bottom line was PMG worked out fine but NGC refused to list the Cherrypicker and/or CONECA variety numbers on the holders and I had them crossed over into PCI Signature Series Holders, then had to demand my extra variety fees returned from NGC.

I will never use them again...

Geez . . . . tough crowd!!

I joined for the free (!) grades. If I had found this I would have gotten them for $20.00 ea.

Trying to help . . . . thought someone might benefit.

I would join if I had 5 coins worth grading to submit. The 5 free submission alone is worth $150.

Jon K,

I appreciate the effort as I am sure others also do. But I have seen people post here on CCF (and personally have taken advantage of) where a local coin shop will send them in for you with no added fee. It helps bond their customers to their business. This is why I would not personally jump on the bandwagon. I also realize this is not an option for everyone.

To me (note that) it has only been in the last few years these TPGs have actually made a valuable contribution to the hobby instead of just being a way to make money off of collectors. When the Chinese fakes started being pumped out by the thousands, the TPGs, I think, have likelt saved some people from being taken. Although fake slabs also exist.

Thanks for the thought and effort. And I am NOT criticizing anyone who pays a TPG - it just a matter of opinion and if someone else sees TPGs as incredibly valuable, then all the more power to you and enjoy - its a hobby
