I get pretty frustrated trying to ID the VAM for many of my Morgans. The markers are just too small or vague in many cases and my skills are lacking. However, I think I've nailed my 1878 8 tailfeathers coin (graded PCGS MS-63) as VAM-19, called "Doubled Date" on VAMWorld. Here are the photos with the markers that I've been able to image:

Whole coin, Obverse:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Whole coin, Reverse:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Thread-like marker behind eye:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Date is doubled:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Doubled stars, left of date:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Doubled stars, right of date:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Doubled LIBERTY:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Arrowheads show doubling:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

AR in DOLLAR is tripled:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

Left-side wreath tip has extra berry:
1878-8TF-VAM-19:--I'm-Pretty-Sure-On-This-One!

The prosecution rests!

I get frustrated trying to ID my Morgans that I purchased prior to becoming aware of the many vamrieties, also. Many dates have very minor differences (some cases I swear there's no difference) between die pairings. Anybody ever try identifying an 1889 far date with a doubled ear?

I agree that you have a VAM-19 by the way. I really like these "busy" varieties with markers that pop out at you.
