Well it may be over graded, what did you pay if you don't mind me asking?
$27.50
(( NGC 2010 P MS67 = $15 according to one price chart in a magazine, and according to the Official
Red Book for Franklin and
Kennedy halves a MS67 should be around $100, in MS68 is listed as RARE.))
Quote:I'll keep an eye out for
Kennedy halves and send them to you at face value if you like.
Thanks for the offer but I have plenty, I go through a few thousand a week. That is what started this journey of mine.
Here is a 1998D NGC MS67, A costly one at $51, yet I am learning a lot and that is the point of the expenditure. It will make be better and more informed in the future.
(( NGC 1998 D MS67 = $100 according to one price chart, and according to the Official
Red Book for Franklin and
Kennedy halves a MS67 should be around $150 - $350, in MS68 between $2000-$3500.))

Zoom-able closeup..

Notes: seen with 30X Loupe
- Weak neckline
- mark below o in God
- small dings at high point of hair directy above ear.
- small dent bottom of neck - center
- four small dings bottom of T in Liberty
- Small scratches under nose
- multiple dents/marks on rim
I am only talking the Obverse as that is were most issues are with Kennedy's unless it is the shield on the reverse and in this case the reverse is fine.
So this makes you wonder, the difference between MS67 and MS68 in business strikes of Kennedy's can be $1000's of dollars. The mint set strikes are not hard to find in MS68, business strikes however look to be very rare indeed in higher grades.
I bought a book called the "The Official
Red Book, A Guide Book of Franklin and
Kennedy half dollars: History.Values.Rarities.Grading
I am glad I bought this and in the future if they change the Half Dollar, I think the Kennedy's will be a great investment item for the future. I personally would like to see them put Ronald Reagan on the Half Dollar.
Back to the 1991D I found, it is one of the best that I have pulled out so what is the grade? I thought it much better but reality speaks wonders.

So it makes me wonder just how to do this properly. What I have noticed is that I will unlikely find anything above MS65 in circulated rolls. The contact marks and scraping from being rolled together are a killer and that does not even count the marks from the automatic counting machines. My 1991D would be lucky to make MS64, and most likely would fall between MS62 and MS63.
