Picked up this bust quarter over the weekend. What do you folks think she grades at? Will she make F 12? -XoG

I don't think she makes F12, more like a VG10 for me. Nevertheless, awesome quarter .

I'm also in at VG but VG8 due to the pitting (black areas) on the reverse, and the old scratch down the face of Liberty.

I can see a F-12 but there are patches of scratches on both the eagle's wings and on E Pluribus Unum may details grade it.

I think the blacker areas on the shield are just discolouration, but I am a bit worries about the scratches on the reverse. I plan on sending this out to NGC this week along with several other coins.

These early bust quarters are so hard to find!
From the photos, I give it VG details, scratches. But I hope NGC disagrees!

nice quarter Xavier - first year issue to boot!
i do love bust coinage from early 19th century
I'm in at VG details from NGC, apologies for the pessimistic outlook but even slabbed in a problem holder you've got a $150 coin in today's market

I also think it has F12 detail but the horizontal scratches on the wings are pretty distracting. The scuff on E PLURIBUS will seal the deal for a Details grade, I expect.
If you are willing to disclose I am curious as to what you paid. These coins are not easy to find in any grade. Despite the problems, this one has a lot of appeal.

I got this and four bust halves as part of a wholesale lot I purchased off a dealer I frequently do business with. Unfortunately I mixed up my notes between the bust coinage and some high grade Buffalo nickels I purchased in the same lot. But I paid somewhere between $50 and $70 for it.

NGC says made fine details due to improper cleaning

They also apparently certified it as the B-1 Variety. Would that add any noticable premium to it?
