It looks to me this is not PMD, but a Struck Through Grease error. I would appreciate opinions on this to find out whether I am right or wrong. Do people collect errors like this or should I throw it back?

Looks like a case of Die Deterioration.I see a lot of metal flow lines on your coin directed towards the rim, An indication of a die that was on it's last leg.IMO

This makes sense - I appreciate the answer.
Do people collect this kind of thing? I just would hate to throw it back if someone likes these.

That was struck by one tired die Do you by chance have a picture of the reverse?

Cool! That die was really worn. I would hold on to that one. It only costs 50 cents to keep it.

That is one nice looking coin...even though worn dies are not on some peoples lists... this one seems to have a design all of it's own due to Die Deterioration...Just my thoughts... nice....and really nice pictures too.

@coop - some days I feel just like the guy on the sign!
@ changeforthebetter - thanks for the complement on the pics - simple set up - tripod, sunlight coming in the window, coin-tube prop under the coin to force the camera to auto focus on it, and an 1.00-cost home-made macro lens.
Thanks for the info everyone. Not sure what I will do with it yet.

Very nice example of severe die deterioration Let me know if you put it in the Trade section, I would be interested in making an offer for it.
