1. I would appreciate opinions on the grade of this IHC I just found last night.

2. Would the slight "woodiness" affect value much?

3. If I decided to get it slobbed (only do this as a fail safe so so family can ID better items if anything happens to me), would I need to somehow point out to them the woodiness - or is it trivial anyway?

Thanks CCF Family - look forward to your responses.

I will go with G-6. I don't think the woodgrain will affect the value or the grade. Just checked the Red Book on flying eagle and Indian cents and it says this date is often struck from an improperly mixed alloy. It is often found with woodgrain or golden in color.

Here are new pics of it in sunlight this AM.

Showing my ignorance here - what would the color designation be on this?

BN or full brown, the coin won't ever be considered for color by TPGs unless uncirculated.

G-6.

I don't like it especially, but it's somewhat nice. I also think it's worth about 70 and would not be worth getting it slabbed.

Your coin would be BN. The vast majority of original circulated copper are brown. There are a few exceptions where a coin has been graded AU-58 RB by a TPG.
