Thanks for the tip - I am on it. Looks like 17 inter-related ID's operating in a ring. Great tip.

You're very welcome. Glad I could help. I will continue to monitor gothic crown listings because these sellers have got my ire up. Here's an interesting development in my case: The "verified" address apparently does not exist, so the fake coin is on its way back to me! If ebay's buyer protection is relying on this seller issuing a refund, I'm afraid I can kiss that money goodbye.

I will check on that issue and get back to you.
Do you want to sell the crown so I have one in hand? Or will it be trophy?

Let me think about that. I was considering keeping it as evidence and using it as a placeholder in my Victoria type collection (marked as a copy, of course!) and putting the real one in my bank's vault(*). But I also have an actual reproduction (a "genuine fake"? It's brass, I believe) that could serve the same purpose in my collection, so I may let this one go.
* I believe the one I got from the UK is real, but NGC will be the arbiters of that. The seller offered to submit it to Spink if NGC rejects it.

I just got a phone message from the postmaster in Canada: The seller's address exists, but the residents claim to have no knowledge of anyone by the seller's name. I have a followup phone call with the postmaster tomorrow morning to try to get more information.

I forwarded what you said to Trust and Safety I will let you know what they say in response - this is getting very bad. Someone has committed a serious felony at this point. Grand Theft should be punished. The seller should be arrested and charged. Or shot.

Or all of the above!
I wonder how PayPal "verified" this person? If I hadn't seen that indicator, I would not have gone through with the purchase.
I have a few questions for the postmaster regarding the residents of that house. Not sure how much he'll answer, but it's worth a try. Because you're right, at least one serious felony has been committed and there has to be some way to track who did it. (At the least, PayPal should have a record of how the payment was distributed.)

Looks like we have a new fake: 281105302265. Half this seller's feedback came from the seller of one of the other fakes.

This seller (overwork9641) is getting sneaky: He listed a fake one ( 281105770079) for Buy It Now of about $350 so that someone could buy it before ebay would have a chance to shut it down.

The second BIN he had Swiss 5 Franc was bought by an anti-counterfeiter who bids on coins that are known fakes and then leaves Negative feedback at the same time as he refuses to pay for them.
It is a fighting fire with fire tactic. That may work if enough people do it. I have asked the boss if the tactic would be frowned on as a policy so that a select number of members could get away with doing that with no ramifications.
Did you notice that on the BIN's - he had 2 - that he listed China, specifically Hong Kong, as the item location while he claims to be from Canada?

I think it's the same seller that sold me the Gothic Crown fake, working under a different ebay ID. The listing title is nearly identical, plus listed as in Canada but located in China, etc. Can ebay check with PayPal to see if the same person holds multiple IDs, possibly using different names but the same address, etc? I've been in touch with the ebay member who does the BIN with immediate negative feedback. I think it's a great idea - as long as he's sure, of course. (I wish I'd thought of it!) In this case, there's no doubt. It is a fighting fire with fire tactic. That may work if enough people do it.Sign me up! Seriously, let us know what the bosses say about that. They should support it, considering such action makes ebay safer for real sellers, and therefore for buyers too.

Wouldn't it be better if we have a thread where we can all add suspicious listings ? These fakers are ruining the hobby and stealing our hard earned money.

I asked a similar question a few days ago. A separate Fake Listing Alert thread is probably a good idea. I wonder if we could get ebay to monitor it.

I certainly hope the bosses agree. I think a big enough counter effort might work but there would have to be an approval process. I would not want to accidental have an original appear on the list because someone did not know what it was. Error do happen.
I like the idea of a list that could be reviewed and approved for termination - then the bids could be placed.
I would only want to place bids on confirmed counterfeits where there was no doubt whatsoever. That would prevent someone accidentally buying a fake.
First things first - will it be approved?
