Greetings!
I am new to the world of coin collecting but have found a passion that I never knew existed within myself.

I recently came across a 1968 Lincoln Memorial penny from the San Francisco mint that seems to have a date error. It appears that it is an 8 over 9 but I'm not entirely sure. I can't seem to find any reference on date errors for this year/from this mint.

I apologize in advance for not having a photo as the site will not allow me to upload one. I am looking for merely a reference to investigate the coin in question.

I'm not expecting to find gold but don't want to throw it in the copper penny bucket if it's more valuable than merely for the copper.

How are you trying to post your photo? From a phone or computer? A little info and someone might be able to help you.
We would need to see the coin to tell what you have.

I want to know if any are self portraits? I take it you've finished putting H'burg back together.I returned once after the storm but stayed away from the hardest hit areas.

Apparently I wasn't logged in when I was trying to upload the photo. It is a phone image so I apologize in advance for the lack of clarity.

Looks like you coin was damaged with the coin wrapped that crimped more than just the paper. The clue is that the lines are parallel to the rim.

Not entirely sure you're seeing what I'm trying to explain. The picture does the date no justice and I will try to figure out how to take a clearer photo and then resubmit.

to CCF.First off the coin you show a photo of is not an S mint as you described,it's a P minted coin. A clearer pic would help a lot but as of now it looks like damage as coop said. I will be looking for a better pic if you can post one.
