When it comes to coin collecting, I am strictly interested in U.S. coins due to their history. When it comes to bullion, however, I really enjoy the many beautiful designs produced around the globe. I'm still not prepared to pay massive premiums for some of the exotic bullion I have seen, but I'm perfectly willing to pay an extra $2-3 above what I would pay for an ASE (and when it comes to gold, the foreign bullion is typically much less expensive than AGEs). Anyway, the last shipment of foreign bullion that I've ordered over the last month or so just arrived and I finally think I'm ready to show off a group photo. In many cases, I actually bought a tube of 20 instead of just one, but this photo just shows one representative example of each: In the center is a 2012 $30 Australian "Year of the Dragon" one kilo coin, and clockwise from the top is the following:
- 2012 $1 Canadian Silver Maple (with Dragon Privy)
- 2011 $50 Australian Platinum Platypus
- 1974 1 Ounce South African Krugerrand
- 2013 £2 Silver Britannia
- 2013 1 Ounce Mexican Silver Libertad
- 2013 1 Ounce Chinese Silver Panda
- 2013 $1 Australian Silver Kookaburra
- 1947 Mexican Gold 50 Peso
- 2012 1 Ounce Austrian Silver Philharmonic
Just thought I'd share...

D'OH! I knew I was going to forget something...
I also have some 2013 Canadian $50 Gold Maple Leafs, but didn't have them handy when I took the photograph. Ah well, maybe if and when I add some additional foreign bullion I'll take a new group photo.

Never seen the platypus before, such a weird choice for them to use but very nice design.

Yeah, well, I just figured they used the platypus because of how fun it is to say "platinum platypus" over and over and over and over...

While I'm still not sure a platypus is worthy of platinum thats as good of reason as any and I'm now supportive of it

When I first got it, I tried to convince my young son that it was made of pure platypus. He wasn't having any of it, though...

Lol, for the price of platinum you think they could have at least had the box covered in platypus skin

Very Very nice collection , I also only collect U.S. coins but when it comes to bullion I love a lot of the designs from other countries as well.

I like the kilo dragon Barry. It's crazy to think that your 50 peso piece is more than twice as valuable as that thing.

I really like the dragon coins. I myself collected all the different dragons which came put from Australia.

Yeah, I'm not really into "animals of the Chinese zodiac" in general, but I've always felt that the dragon was pretty special.
Who wants a coin with a rat (or pig or chicken or snake or horse, etc.) on it? But a dragon? Now, that's just cool!
