Taking a little vacation from my favorite series ( Half Cents), here is a grading challenge. This coin recently graduated from my 7070 to my slabbed type set. I think it's got a great, original look. And the reeded edge half is a two-year type, so kind of hard to come by.
I can't quite reach 45 for it; I expect these to be pretty well-struck so most of what I'm seeing is wear. Glorious eye appeal; it's easy to ignore the scratch at OF.
JR-20a, by the die crack starting at 6:00 reverse.

There seems to be a substantial amount of wear, particularly on Liberty's hair and the eagle's neck, wing, and talons. I assume the reverse rim weakness and soft detail on STATES is mostly (but not completely) strike-related. VF-35 is maybe a bit conservative but fair IMO.
