I won an auction recently on ebay, promptly paid at the end of the auction and then was notified by the seller he was refunding my purchase. Anyway, being the cynic I am, I decided to watch what he was selling and guess what, the coin I purchased showed back up with an opening bid higher than what my purchase price was. I have no left feedback regarding this transaction yet, but feel inclined to leave negative. What would you do? Here is a link to the completed auction and current. This was one where I was taking a little chance due to poor pictures. http://www.ebay.com/itm/15102032417....m1497.l2649http://www.ebay.com/itm/1905-Barber...em232a07411b

According to his feedback he's done this before. A second negative feedback would help warn other buyers. This is against ebay rules and it is quite obvious that it's the same coin. I'd report it to ebay.

Document an email to him concerning this situation - include the same links you did here. Kindly ask him the reasoning. If he does not resolve it properly, open a case against him. Although I cannot give specifics, I am sure this is considered breaking ebay rules since it appears he just wanted a higher price.

i'd email him and offer him a chance to send you the coin at the agreed upon price. If he does not I would negative feedback him for it.

Id leave a feedback saying what he did, report it, and then never bid on his items again. This is why I believe people should start their auctions at the lowest amount theyd be willing to take. If you do the 99 cent no reserve way you arent going to be happy with the final price of everything but at the same time if you chose that way you should follow through with the sale.

I would send negative feedback; in the feedback I would clearly explain what happened. Don't forget to report it to the ebay staff.

I agree that negative feedback is deserved.
A few years ago I had a similar situation, but with a twist. I won an auction with a bid of around $200 and couldn't believe my good luck because the coin was worth much more. When the package arrived it contained a dateless cull coin. I notified the seller and he said 'oops sorry - just throw away the cull and I'll refund you because I must have sent your coin to someone else'.
I was always suspicious and a few months later checked his latest feedback and saw that he did the same to another buyer but they determined that he shipped the cull and relisted the coin they had won.

I humbly concur that negative feedback is warranted; this, in addition to reporting the seller. IMHO, the original sale price was already too high for this VF, artificially toned, common date Barber dime. This seller, in effect, did you a favor by trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of a doctored coin.

I can kind of understand if a few hundred dollar coins goes for a 100 bucks or something like that, but if this doesn't get bid up its literally 2 dollar to a few bucks max.

How can people justify to themselves doing this? I would be riddled with guilt if I had an auction and did what that seller did.
