I have had a few emails asking why am I selling my 7070 coins when I just finished it. Am I bored with it already? Sort of. I, like just about anyone else, am never satisfied and always looking for the next coin to acquire, hopefully something distinctive. That and I kinda got bitten by the PCGS Registry bug when I finished my Morgan dollar Mint Mark Collection which happened to be all PCGS coins. When I placed the slabs into the 2011 25th Anniversary ASE Case (I will post the image at the end of that thread), it just looked balanced, all of the same type of holders. A friend/collector suggested putting them into the PCGS Registry to see where I ranked among fellow registry set collections (BTW my set is tied for 160th out of 468 registrants with a 63.81 Weighted GPA).

Anyway to make a long OP thread not quite so long, I am always looking for upgrades, like this one that is on Lay-A-Way;

If you need to temporarily store your 7070 album in my house, let me know. I'll be glad to hold it.

Do you have a goal for your new set? I am slowly working on my first slab set in MS63+ for older coins, and 68+ for moderns.

First step is swapping out the NGC & ANACS for PCGS for uniformity and registry.

Then I will work on continuing upgrades!

My "oih82w8" Basic U.S. Coin Design Set No Gold (1792-present) is grade rated at 46.396 (VF20 through MS/PR69) with 5 spots open: 3CS, Early Dime (1796-1837), Twenty Cent Piece, Early Dollar (1794-1804) and working on getting my Peace dollar added (not eligible because it's a VAM ).

See, my goal is to swap out anything PCGS or NGC to ANACS. But that has nothing to do with a 7070. LOL I won't be attempting that project for quite a while.

Don, you could always check out the Buy It Now section for some of the items I am offering that may fit your collection. What do you have that you want to "get rid of"?

Not sure I get this - a VAM designation shouldn't have any bearing whatsoever on its' eligibility for inclusion.

That's my thinking on it as well SsuperDdave, I have a couple of those "varieties" that were not initially accepted, but there is an option where you can request consideration (Report a cert that should match this composite).

I did the equivalent of a 7070 set with Australian pre decimal coins, with each type represented by the rarest date, except the '30 penny. Did a 17 coin gold type set to go with it, including the Adelaide Pound.

What became of them?
They went to a major auction, the money raised was 20% of the value of our first home, as a deposit.

What did I do after that?
I went into ancients (major interest) and World coins (minor interest) all centuries, all cultures.
Been doing that for 30 years now.

Why?
Such a collection is completely open, and can NEVER be completed!
Such a project will keep me going for the rest of my life.

BTW, the house has been paid off for more than 20 years.

I should have stated that clearer. Anything I have that is a PCGS or NGC holder, and is not part of a matched set, is going to get cracked out and sent in to ANACS for grading. Thats what I meant by swap out.

Good luck... Instead of swapping my type sets, I have begun the process of upgrading the weaker coins. It took me 40 years to get within a couple of Mercury dimes and 2 Lincoln cents away from those completions. It will probably take another 40 before I'm satisfied with the upgraded 'replacement' coins. The joy and the tragedy of coin collecting... you're NEVER done.
