So awhile back I posted about an idea for a new website called coin show. I have since brainstormed and expanded my ideas. If you have a minute please look over what I have and tell me what you think. This website is still at the "Idea" stage. Thanks ~icollectyoubuy

Coin Show
The ebay replacer for collectibles!
Key Features:
*Sellers must be online to sell

*Inventory may or may not be available when offline.

*Sellers chat with potential buyers about the items and whatever else they'd want to.

*Sellers are required to show an image or a video for each unique item.

*Sellers have the option to use a webcam to communicate with and show items to the buyers.

*Sellers are charged what's called a "Table" Fee. Instead of insert and final values its like a one-time fee or subscription. (Not exactly sure which way but would be way cheaper than ebay)

*Section for people to grade or give opinions on coins or other items. (Kind of like the section found here on the forums.)

*Site is for all collectibles not just coins.

*First "Show" or time using would be free or exempt from fees for sellers.

*No Buyer Fees.

*Payment Options
*Paypal
*90% Silver :)

*Auctions
*No listing or final value fees.
*Table fee or subscription still applies for the seller.

*No reserves - Reserves are stupid right? If you want an item to sell at a minimum price then just start the bid at it!

And that's all that I have so far. Any opinions or questions on the idea would be appreciated.

And here is my suggestion. Give it a name such as Coin Community Family. Add in that you must have a certain amount of posts to be able to buy and/or sell.

I'd comment, point by point, but the methodology doesn't matter; only the plan for muscling out a website that commands 3% of all Internet traffic matters. How you choose to sell isn't relevant. What matters is only how you're going to start a new car company and shove General Motors out of the way. Don't define your demographic or your methods; define your competition. Only then will you even start the path of success.

I can see the desire to have the seller online to make a sale, but the appeal of ebay (which I am not saying is great) is that you get an incredibly large audience to see/bid on your item even while you are sleeping. If a seller needs be online to sell, it likely would be difficult to expect the best price for his items since not all potential buyer could work their schedule to be online the same time as the seller.

I second the idea that having the seller have to be online when the potential buyer is would be detrimental. Having the ability to chat live when on would be good. I have had similar ideas for a sports card site. The aforementioned traffic displacement/takeover doesn't matter if you find a niche and have ways of driving real buyers and sellers there. I personally think that real ebay competition will evolve from a more secure and safe buying and selling environment because it is still so filled with scammers.
