Hi guys, new user here, was wondering what you would grade this 1931-S Lincoln Cent. Do you think it's worth sending off to get slabbed? Thanks in advance!

I`m not good at wheat cents but I`ll say VF 30. And as for sending it in, I would just encapsulate it.

That one makes it look like a EF 40. it also has some red left on it so I really don't know. All I can say really is that it`s better than VF 20.

I took it to my LCS last week, one guy said AU55, the other said MS63. I'm so confused lol... My pictures are misleading, the obverse looks scratched up,, but that's the way it's toned for some reason.

Nice key date Lincoln. A little glare on the coin and, a bit bigger pictures would help. Great looking wheat stalks, looks MS-62/3 to me.

Welcome to CC!
Your coin is what we call a "slider", meaning it could grade from AU to MS. Many such coins are very difficult to grade, especially from pictures. You often have to check for the slight sign of rub on the design high points and evaluate the luster.
Your first set of pictures are a little over-exposed. The second pic you posted is probably more representative of the coin. To me, it looks to be MS-62/63. I would probably not pay to have this coin slabbed as the cost is just too high compared to the benefit.....especially if it comes back AU. If you want a slabbed example, sell this one and buy one already slabbed. It will save you $$$ in the end.

really confused coin. it doesn't know if it is EF, AU or MS. the more I look at it, the more confused I get. the beard, bow and left stalk are saying EF but the color is saying MS. I'm going to go with MS62 on the notion that the strike was a little weaker than normal and its not from circulation wear.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not very good at taking close up photos I suppose. I attempted a few more with different lighting, not sure it helps any. As far as getting it slabbed, is the general consensus, not worth the money? PCGS estimates an MS63 between $220-265, ebay sales are $150-250. That's assuming it makes the grade. Either way, appreciate the feedback!

That new photo of the obverse shows a beautiful coin, better pictures are a must when grading coins. It defiantly shows a MS-62/3 coin IMO..

Looks MS63RB and I do think it would be worth getting certified.
