Assuming it's not silver, I would say you've paid a fair price. If it is silver, you've done very well.

Yeah, what's it made of and what's the diameter? It's pretty enough.

Likely for more than one reason. Note on the half dollar roll hunter's thread how there recently were a lot of unwanted, defaced JFK Half dollars of this nature being dumped into circulation.

edited for spelling

I knew it, I knew it.

I've lost my dinner appetite. I had no idea the Prez had a medallion or coin or whatever.

If it was for the silver - , If it was for history - , If it was for you just liking it - , If it was for something to do - , If it was for Obama -

The way the media paints the picture, people abroad likely do not know the facts - hence they just see this medal as another part of history.

If it were silver, the subject matter would make it a joy to melt.

John, you're from Northern Ireland; I'm sure you're no stranger to the language of the politics of anger (or to the consequences).
Here's one American who thinks you've made a fine purchase.

John,
Please forgive me if I offended in any way. It is not my intention to do so. And I should not have made light of it with my "melt" comment.

It is hard for me when I see a coin with American symbolism on it while the effigy is of a person who knowingly hired a self proclaimed communist - Van Jones - as one of his advisers ("czars"). Having had friends who have been persecuted under communism, I hate seeing Americanism being associated with communism in any form.

I congratulate you on your purchase since you wanted and bought the coin, and if I were from another county, I might have the same inclination (?). But being an American who has studied our history, and who realizes the huge number of lives lost by our fathers in the name of stopping the evils of communism, I would feel it a slap in the face to the honored dead not to state the facts - and to do so NOT in a manner of levity such as I did.

Enjoy our coin.

Wow, it's kind of crazy to see a bunch of politics rage in this thread about someone who's just showing off a nifty inauguration medal. The last one we got was 60 years ago (we're not too big on commemorating our Prime Ministers) :I

I mean, come on, he's the elected president. I think that's why they put him on the medal labeled "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES". Even if he touched a communist once.

but I am not from the US to say anything about their president.

It is a nice coin though!

Notice how I the coin and the topic of the coin were 2 completely separate comments.

The subject piece is a medal, NOT a coin.

I'm in Fatman's corner on this one, yet I'll not sully this thread with my critique of Obama.
