Was wondering if anyone can help me out with this. I decided open a roll of 1996 toonies I bought a while ago. To my shock, halfway through the roll this jumped out at me. Not sure if this is common? Or rare at all? I have never seen one? Any thoughts?

Not super rare, but not common either. They can occur in a number of different years, 1996 being the most common (probably by volume of mintage).

I am sure t_y will give you all the information you need... I sent him a note, asking to respond to you.

There are many different "all nickel" planchets for 1996: Bangladesh, Venezuela, Bermuda are the most frequent ones (all them back door jobs) and the real errors, either struck on unbored planchets or on bored planchets that received a nickel slug as core.

I would like to examine the coin to identify this one. It has to be zapped to ID the core composition

... off course, it would fit snugly in my collection ...

@ brexzz1... Was that an original roll from 1996 or was it just a regular roll of mixed toonies from the bank?
