I picked this up in a small auction last weekend. I wanted this for a possible display piece to go along with the USS Constitution (1/96 Revell) build I'm working on.

Prethen, that coin is a PCGS G-6. It is a quarter. Yours is a half, which I believe are treated differently when it comes to grading due to various reasons. What grade do you think the Half is?

jpbone...yes, I forgot that it's a quarter I was looking at. It just had a lot less detail (note the motto and Liberty's head) and I thought (perhaps wrongly) the grading scales would be similar.

I grade mine as VG8 with claims to VG10. The auction listed it as VG10.

Classic VG8 IMO. Listing it as VG10 is alright, I guess, but that's a bit high.

VG8 barely that hit on the rim hurts the grade I'd say. Looks like it extends to both sides, though the reverse really took the brunt of it.

The detail makes VG08 but the rim hits and wiped surfaces hurt the value.
