My question is this penny machine double die damage or an actual double die. I'm still learning and I think by far this is the coolest thing I have found to date. Any professional input would be greatly valued.

These are the best photos I could come up with. There is no shadow and the date to me shows two double nines.

I'm a newbie too, but I'll take the chance to test myself and say, probably die-deterioration doubling.

But of course, wait for the experts.

I'm a newbie to. And that's exactly what I thought it was. I would still like an educated answer. To me its still cool. Its my first doubling error. Its a keeper to me.

I'm not so sure. From the images I'm leaning toward either Die Deterioration or just maybe some split plating doubling. (I think Die Deterioration is more likely.)

Twodiced13, very nice post. We all are still learning. Reading the post you can see who knows their "stuff," be it coins, tokens or currency.
