Hello to all,

I have a question about my 1858-P Seated Liberty quarter. It appears to be VF/EF in my opinion. There appears to be a clear date error in the 1 and a possible DDO rotated error (ghost face & arm). I'm wondering if I should have it graded. Any help is appreciated.

VF-20. Can't tell from pics for sure on the originality.

its a push to VF IMO, too much wear on the pole through Liberty's arm, wear of the motto and a few surface blemishes that looks like scratches of some sort on both the obverse and reverse

as far as the DDO, in the areas you are pointing to it would actually constitute a die clash. I am not seeing it although I am going off the pics and not holding the coin in-hand. You should seek out the Encyclopedia of LSQ by Larry Briggs and see if there are any documented varieties for that year.

I wouldn't have it graded. Neat coin though! Seated quarters are often found with clashed dies and other "imperfections" - not that said imperfections make them bad! Certainly interesting! Neat quarter, but I wouldn't spend the money on having it graded. If you're interested in selling, work on taking even better pictures. : ) Neat coin!
