Bonjour I bought those 2 large cent coins and a few others(some tokens) at a small antiques shop in a small town near Ottawa. Those are my first ever bought coins. All I had so far were from my Dad. Can you grade them for me and tell me about value.I just want to add to what my Dad started more than 50 years ago. I paid 5.00$ for both coins. Merci Edited by Jo1955 06/04/2013 4:10 pm

Bonjour, to you too Jo1955... Nice NFLD large cent, crown detail great but a couple carbon spots drives down the grade...AU-50 Canada large cent, nice one, great looking obverse. As, a rule the later date large cents seem to always be in good condition, AU-58 Great deal for $5.00..

Nice job on picking up those 2 coins. Keep up the fine collecting..
Keep reading around here and maybe even get a new Volume 1 Charlton catalogue and read it over and over to absorb as much as you can.

Nice obverse on both coins. The wear on the reverse crown brings the Newf down to EF40 IMO. AU50 for the 1920.

Nicest thing is wanting to continue the collection your Dad started 50 years ago. Nice coins

I agree on the 1907, EF40, the other one I think would be EF45

I'd say EF40 on the First and AU50 on the second....Just don't get used to getting such nice coins so cheap...they are usually quite far and few between....Happy Collecting

Bonjour
Thanks everybody for your comments. What some have called "carbon spots", would they be the green spots at the bottom on the obverse of the #2 coin? It seems to matter more on pennies than any other coins. Am I right?
As for my first coin purchase experience, so fun.
Merci
