Quote: Here is what they were really selling for last week: That's about what I'd expect for ungraded. Thanks, FWM. :) I know they have to pay staff, rent and utility bills and such. but 5x market rates is a bit ridiculous. Oh well, if they can get fools to part with their money, said fools should probably not have the money to begin with.

I went to this store back in december. Just like a beer is about 8 dollars in Vegas. Everything in this store is overpriced because people go in there saying i'll pay more since its from "pawn stars" They even have a sign saying silver coins are non negotiable when you buy them they charge 40% over spot.

Thanks for all the info on this store. We are planning a Vegas trip and just wanted to stop by and see, but not now. If their wanting $400 for the ASE's than I guess the real sales are on the random VF Mercury dimes for $20 per each. My wife loves that show, glad this was posted here to show her what TV fame can do for business.

Grand theres a ton of stuff to do in Vegas without stopping by. If you happen to be in the area it never hurts to just drop in and say youve been there without buying anything. If I remember right though its a decent way off the strip and I would always get caught up doing other stuff

Basebal, believe we (I) know about Vegas. Since we've been married we've had 14 trips there, about once a year. She has every 5 cent "Betty Boop" slot machine mapped out in ALL casinos. Then there is the buffets which I will be consuming enough for an entire zip code, I need the weight. It won't hurt me at all if we get to their store or not. I get upset when local shops use their notoriety to pump up costs and YES I do know something about this. Watch "Tanked", many of them worked for me in the Aquarium business. For us it's a major trip, since we're in Florida. What I would very much like is to visit the coin stores there. If anyone has lists of honest (yeah, in Vegas I know that may not be a known term) stores, please email me. We won't be going until August, and that's if my health issues don't interrupt the trip. Keeping my fingers crossed on that.

When I pulled in there parking lot about a month ago the valets/security guards asked us where we were staying we told him caesars palace he handed us cards and told us to fill them out and if we were picked that the discovery channel would pay for a weeks stay at a hotel in vegas and that we would be on a show (they never called) On several visits to vegas iv'e won different 1oz silver casino tokens you put in your money and arms push them out to you if your lucky ! You can see the 1oz tokens laying in there through the windows of the machines once it pushed out 8 of them at the same time.

Thank you FUN, I know exactly where they are, they redid the front of that strip center a few years ago which is how I remember. It's a ways off, but I would much rather dump $ there on an addition to our sets instead of the one armed money holes. Thanks.

Grancap I'm jealous of all your Vegas trips. I've been twice myself but not for quite some time. Needless to say I always got consumed with other things than visiting the pawn shop. First thing for me is always drop the bags off at the casino I'm staying at and go right to In-N-Out burger.

Foxwoods Man - that '92 is a 68. Didn't look at the '87...
basebal21 - I'd gladly trust a good dealer enough to pay a 70 price for a 70. I've seen so many slabbed "70s" that are 69s and "69s" that 68s that I don't trust the slabs as much as I trust a good honest dealer. A top dealer will know where his 70 ranks (slabbed or not) compared to the rest of the population to justify their pricing in my experience. Plus, you KNOW a 70 when you have it in hand with your magnifier. They're unmistakeable.
grancap74 - I'm still glad I went. It was an interesting experience. They didn't have any Mercs when I was there, but I'm sure their inventory changes a lot. They did have silver dimes to buy by the bag.

Plus, you KNOW a 70 when you have it in hand with your magnifier. They're unmistakeable. I definitely understand what youre saying and the logic behind. The reason why I wouldnt (this only applies to 70s for me) is if I had to resell it. I've yet to see any place that can cherry pick and identify 70s well enough where their submission rates on them are 100 percent which means even if you get it slabbed to sell its still a large risk. Without that slab if you had to resell it anywhere but maybe the dealer you bought it from and youre going to get 50 dollars for the coin you probably spent a couple hundred on. Hypothetically even if there was a dealer that did have a 100 percent rate I would still want it slabbed to be honest. The slightest little thing and its not a 70 anymore and I would be terrified trying to get it in and out of an album for example. I would much rather have it sealed up where I can touch it and look at it and not worry about destroying its value from a single mistake.
