Looks MS to me too, but these black spots, on both obverse and reverse, are quite disturbing. MS61 IMO.

I agree, they dont look like typical carbon spots. looks like a spot cleaning or something. lets see what others say

I don't know if a drop of soot remover on a Q-tip would remove the spot, or if it would ruin the coin , and was unaware of this product till I had to clean the oil burner and this liquid removed heavy built up soot instantly a few years back.

I wouldn't try any chemical treatment on this coin.

Could be lighting but this one looks cleaned to me. Is it an RPD> Looks like the 1 in the date is repunched.

Will a IHC make it into MS with some wear on the ribbon diamonds? I thought it was a high AU.
