Based on the flatness of the lowest curl resting on the shoulder, and the flatness at the top of the ear that makes it look connected to the curl above it, I would say VF-20, not quite a VF-30.
Hi Sleaklight, I'd be inclined to give this one an EF40 grade. Color is nice and the look is original. I had an 1853 slabbed as EF45 by PCI that was more worn than this coin. Granted the PCI opinion was optimistic, but in today's market this coin would I think make EF. A very decent example, IMO.
There's a lot of neat stuff happening on the reverse of this cent such as the leaf tip in the "T" of Cent and another in the N on the left side. Very, very interesting!
