Another "tool" that works wonderfully at removing crud from any coin is a porcupine quill. They are basically modified hairs and will not scratch at all. I use them often on high end coins with great success. You can find them on The Bay from time to time. Get the American variety and not the African. I'm sure there must be Chinese knock-offs too so beware. And now you know the rest of the story..

This is great  The guy you sold it to and bought it back from must really be wondering what is going on  or kicking himself  Try a little more acetone and maybe it will improve a little more and you can repeat the whole process again
