So, my father in law gives us all his change to go through. Usually I find a few wheat ears or nice older Jeffersons or the like. Nothing spectacular. So tonight I was going through several penny rolls we got from him and found this baby... But still worth a fruit or two.

Shame it does not have an S but it is still an excellent find. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Still an amazing find in change. I've yet to find one and I've gone through dozens of penny boxes.

I found one, my first, in my dads change when I was 9. Always a cool find. I've found a couple in cent boxes since.

Nice score.
I haven't found one yet (or a plain 1909 for that matter) in all of the boxes I have gone through.

What a score! That's older than any wheatie I've found in change.

That was only the second 09 I have found. The first was an S VDB. Bad bad story behind that one.

All you need now is an S.

What an incredible find!! Heart stopping I'm sure. Interestingly I'm reading the Red Books Guide to the Lincoln Cent by David Bowers. I highly recommend it. Incredible what Victor D. Brenner and that little penny went through with his initials on it. Your holding history in your hands. Even though it was missing that crucial 'S' (exponentially increasing its value), think about this, you may have pulled out the last existing 1909 VDB from circulation!!!
