If I had the time machine, I would go back and get all these coins in large quantity and mint state and bring em back.

I'm betting that the 48 for a buck and a quarter was a type-o for the year 1959.

Just remember that after you go back in your TARDIS any purchases you then make must be made with 1959 or earlier currency.

For US it's easy. You buy up a bunch of cheap $1 silver certificats at slightly over face, go back to 1964 & cash them in, then take the 1920s silver dollars, go back to 1932, & swap those for gold. Lather, rinse, repeat!

well according to the Charlton book I have from 1980 you could get a 1948 for 300.00
then 10 years later Charlton has the 1948 for 1000.00 in AU
and now 2013 48 AU is 1500.00
So I guess back in 1959 to get a 48 for a 1.50 maybe should have read 15.00 instead ? any thoughts ?

1962 Charlton,s lists 1948 dollar at $70 unc. In 1948 you could have had one for a buck.

Yes and No.......
If you did go to the bank in 48 and asked...they always said there aren't any for this year.
My first purchase was a choice set of all but the 48 because he(the seller) was told that there were none for that year. Now if he had gone back late in 48,.. you/he then could have had it for a buck,.. if that bank actually did receive any....
Luckily, the one 47 that he received was a pointed 47 with the dot. At that time, ... I had no idea what I was buying and nor did he in selling all of them in one shot to me.
