I received this coin as part of a set I recently purchased. Thanks as always for the candid comments and opinions. The discoloration on the obverse doesn't bother me much although I'd like to get a broader spectrum of advice. I treated the back side for some verdigris which has come off quite well. There is still some surface effects that I believe will come off with another soak. Thanks for your inputs.

Marty

I'm at VF35 on this one. Not sure if it would get a details grade for environmental damage or not from a TPG.

The off color hurts this one a bit. Like this in the AU53 or AU55 range. Definitely a keeper though.

I like it. I'll give it a 45. Like others have mentioned, it may warrant the dreaded details designation. I say keep it raw and don't worry about it.

I'm all in at EF or higher, regardless of the color and the chance it's been recolored or clean it's a heck of a nice IHC.

Ok. Now I need some real help - choose between my 1873's for my 7070 set. I was ready to accept my old one over the one reviewed above. Now I'm not so convinced. Vote Left or Right as to which one you would prefer to have in your set. Thanks.

I like the one on the right, not as many marks and over time the coor will change a nice pleasing even brown in a Dansco album.

Thanks for the advice and comments. I still have much to learn about copper coins. You all keep coin collecting not only interesting but exciting. I'll post a few more when I have some more time.

Is the die die clash the little flag like mark over the E in one? Where do you see the die breaks?
