Bobby (or others),

I read your post about "Killing an Auction" in another thread. After my ebay listings received bids, I see what I thought were the "more valuable" coins getting lower bids. It's too late to change it now, unless I "Kill the Auction" & start over, which I didn't know you could do, until I read your post.

The auctions doing worse have the Titles:
WASHINGTON DOLLAR MS64-ICG CERTIFIED DOUBLE MINT ERROR
WASHINGTON DOLLAR COIN MS65-ICG CERTIFIED DOUBLE ERROR

The auctions doing better have the Titles:
WASHINGTON DOLLAR $ COIN MS66-ICG SMOOTH EDGE ERROR
WASHINGTON DOLLAR $ COIN MS63-ICG SMOOTH EDGE ERROR

I realized that I should have left off the word "CERTIFIED" & maybe the word "MINT" & "COIN" in the first 2 titles & instead added the words "SMOOTH EDGE DOUBLE ERROR."

I don't want to get the previous bidders angry or upset, but I don't want to lose money in the process either. I looked & looked it over & over until I thought it was perfect & still made a mistake.

I have 11 more to auction off in the coming weeks. Should I just let this go & make the repairs in the future auctions? Or would you kill this, if it was you, & start over?

I'd say let it run. I would have spent the extra 35 (or 50 cents) to have placed them not only in the erros category but in the Presidential dollars category as well I've done that in the past and the difference for the exact same item (my items) was around $100, I did it twice to see if the price difference would happen again and it did.

Yes, unless the item is damaged or lost, I would never end an auction because the bids where low. It could be the better coins are being watched and bidders are holding out bids.

You made the move by adding another category.

From following your posts I know you're concerned about recovering your money on these coins. At this point you have over 3 days left until the auction ends & you have some bids. I don't think you need to be too worried, most of the action happens at the end of the auction. Good luck.

This reminds me of something my old home economics teacher used to say,

"Remember, 99% of all microwave cooking takes place in the last 10 seconds."

I don't quite know how to say what I'm feeling here, and I don't want to hurt anyone else's feelings but...

You speculated when you bought the coins, and then had doubts about whether you did the right thing. You speculated when you listed the coins (and we all know ebay is a gamble at times) and now you don't know whether you did the right thing.

In both instances the other party in your transactions acted in good faith, but because you're afraid to lose some money, you want to put the screws to them. If you can't afford to lose some money in an auction arena, don't get involved in the first place. Once you make a deal, either as a buyer or listing an auction, take the good with the bad.

I would never suggest to cancel bids to alter the title. Once it's done it's done. We all think of better search words and alterations that could be made After we list but then we live and learn and next time we make it Better. And besides you have NO guarantees that those people will rebid on the item. Seems the auction is going fairly well for itself and glad to hear those got authenticated.

Good luck!

I don't see anything wrong with stopping an auction occasionally if you make a mistake. Obviously neither does ebay, as its one of the reasons to choose when you end a listing.

We've done it. Susan always emails all the bidders with an honest explanation, they've always been OK with it, and usually come back to bid on the fixed auction.

Now if you're constantly ending listings because you're not happy with "where it's at", that's a different story.

I would like to point out that I haven't ended auctions with bids just to improve a title or description. I only do this if there is an actual error in the listing.
