Hey I pulled this Quarter out of a $1000 bag back in 1999, It made me smile after I saw it. After looking at almost 4000 quarters this horse was smiling back at me. I remember how silly I felt when I first saw it. I believe its most likely cause by a bag mark. It doesn't look like a bag mark though when you look at the coin. I love collecting and looking for the strange things. I pulled several other Quarters out of that bag, "Spitting Horse" I have one where the "arter" is missing completely from the word Quarter on the obverse, That is a grease filled error. I also have several others missing numbers or letters or are very faint. Please tell me what you think of the should I call it the Happy Horse or the Laughing Horse. Thanks Arby96

I think you should call it a circulated DE quarter. "cutsy" names are meaningless and in the long run annoying.

This is an Uncirculated coin, I pulled it out of a $1000 bag I purchased from the mint back in 1999. Conder101 I have to disagree with you on names, there are people who like these type of coins, ICG has graded one called the spitting horse, I pulled 16 of the spitting horses our of a bag. Never sent them in to be graded. Of course its not for everyone. Look what they did with the new Buffalo nickel, Die crack, called the Speared Bison.
